Dental Bridges can Replace Missing Teeth
At South Granville Dentistry in Vancouver, our dentists use dental bridges to 'bridge' the gap between the two teeth.
How do Fixed Bridges work?
An empty space left by missing teeth can cause the surrounding teeth to shift out of their proper positions over time.
This can result in discomfort and an increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease, which could lead to further tooth loss.
Fixed bridges can improve your ability to chew and speak as well as enhance the appearance of your smile.
The Procedure
First, the teeth on either side of the gap between missing teeth are prepared for dental crowns. A highly accurate impression of the prepared area is then taken. This impression is used to create a porcelain, tooth-coloured bridge in a laboratory.
Once the bridge is ready, it is cemented to the prepared surface of the teeth, effectively creating the appearance of a 'new' tooth.
