Dentures can help to make eating and speaking easier, and restore your smile. Our dentists at South Granville Dentistry in Vancouver replace missing teeth as they are essential to your oral health. Your dentist will review all of the available options with you to determine the best solution for your needs.
Dentures are artificial teeth that can be used to replace a single missing tooth, a row of teeth (known as partial dentures), or a whole jaw (full dentures).
There are two types of dentures available: conventional and immediate.
If tooth extractions are required, your dentist will wait until your gum tissue has fully healed. At that point, your dentist will fit your dentures. This process usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks.
Immediate dentures will be made in advance and will be placed immediately following the extraction procedure. Any alterations required will be made once the gum tissue has healed.
Partial dentures are used to replace one or more missing teeth next to each other. They are held in place by clasps that fit onto the natural teeth, and can be removed for cleaning and sleeping.
Full dentures replace a jaw of missing teeth. For a more secure fit, they can also be combined with dental implants. They are held in place by suction and can be removed for cleaning and sleeping.
